Al-Hilal have struck a deal to sign Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez for €53m (£46.3m).

The Uruguayan forward is now set to undergo a medical ahead of finalising his move to the Saudi Pro League, according to reports on Thursday.

Nunez, 26, arrived at Anfield from Benfica in June 2022, joining the Reds for an initial £64m fee.

Since then, he has netted 40 goals across 143 appearances, but he started just eight Premier League matches during Liverpool’s title-winning campaign last season.

Offloading Nunez could strengthen Liverpool’s position in their pursuit of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.

The Magpies recently rejected an opening bid of £110m, with the club valuing the Sweden international, 25, at closer to £150m.

Liverpool’s summer activity has been relentless. The club broke their transfer record to land Germany star Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for £116m, and also brought in French forward Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt in a £79m deal - pushing total spending past the £250m mark.

On the outgoing side, Colombia winger Luis Diaz has joined Bayern Munich for £65.5m, while midfielder Tyler Morton has sealed a £15m switch to Lyon. England Under-21 international Harvey Elliott could also be on the move.
