Jorrel Hato was a notable absentee for the Eredivisie outfit as he stands on the verge of anticipated transfer to Chelsea.

Steven Berguhis opened the scoring with a curling strike that nestled in the bottom righthand corner of Kasper Schmeichel's net in the 16th minute.

Yang Hyun-Jun restored parity for the Bhoys just five minutes later though a sweeping effort inside the area after being teed up by Reo Hatate.

But Davy Klaassen put John Heitinga's side back in the lead early in the second half with a rebounded strike after Schmeichel had parried Mika Godts' initial effort.

Berhuis added a third shortly before the hour mark at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia by pouncing on Liam Scales' sliding clearance to rifle home.

Aaron Bouwman added a touch of class with a sublime strike from the edge of the penalty area to round off a comprehensive victory for the Amsterdam club.

An almost identical goal of superb quality followed in the closing stages as Rayne Bounida inflicted a fresh blow on Celtic as the clock ticked down.

Ajax will now face hosts Como in Sunday's showpiece while the Scottish champions take on Al Ahil in the third and fourth place play-off a day earlier.
