Ajax and Stade Rennes are nearing an agreement for Brian Brobbey, De Telegraaf reported Wednesday morning. The Amsterdam club are seeking €25 million, including bonuses and a percentage of the resale value for the striker.

The initial offer from France was reportedly less than 20 million euros and was firmly rejected by technical director Alex Kroes. Now Ajax and Rennes are moving closer together, according to De Telegraaf. The newspaper report that the Amsterdam club wants to receive around 25 million euros plus a resale percentage for the striker.

Negotiations between Ajax and the French club are reportedly in full swing, and an agreement seems imminent. The only thing that could still thwart the transfer is whether Brobbey himself is open to a move to Ligue 1. The 23-year-old striker already failed to agree with Italian club Como earlier this summer.

A Brobbey exit would give Ajax some breathing room and the ability to fund the acquisition of an experienced holding midfielder after Jordan Henderson’s departure.
