Despite Inter’s genuine interest, Cristhian Mosquera is on the verge of penning a new contract at Valencia.

His current deal runs out next summer, encouraging Inter’s hopes of luring him to San Siro on favorable terms.

However, the 20-year-old seems to have other plans.

Even though Valencia are no longer a viable European contender in La Liga, he looks eager to stay put.

Indeed, Barila will soon revisit talks with Los Che to negotiate a contract renewal.

Therefore, Inter must not lose time on this pursuit and should immediately switch to other targets.

Parma’s Giovanni Leoni is a concrete option for the Nerazzurri, especially with Cristian Chivu at the helm.

“We will talk again in a few days,” Barila stated. “Mosquera is very happy at Valencia.

“We will wait because, at the moment, he remains focused on his national team.

“Is the clause an issue? Let’s wait.”

Mosquera joined Valencia’s youth academy in 2016 and made his senior debut for the club in January 2022.

He has since established himself as a permanent fixture in the first team.

Indeed, the prodigious center-back collected 37 appearances in La Liga last term.

Therefore, it’s unsurprising he has become a pillar of Spain U23’s defense.

However, he has yet to feature for La Roja’s senior squad, though it looks inevitable at some point.

That’s perhaps the reason he wants to stay in his homeland rather than join Inter.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri could now prioritize a move for Leoni, who’s eager to reunite with Chivu at San Siro.

Chances are he will Inter’s biggest defensive coup this summer.
