Dons back in the third tier after a three-year hiatus following play-off success

AFC Wimbledon open their return to League One with a tough trip to relegated Luton.

The Wombles’ inconsistencies last year cost them an automatic promotion place, but they came into their own in the play-offs, beating Notts County 1-0 home and away in the semi-finals, before beating the Saddlers by the same scoreline a week later.

Jackson has lost several key figures from that promotion campaign, with first-choice wing-backs James Tilley and Josh Neufville departing on free transfers for Wycombe and Bradford respectively, while Owen Goodman’s loan deal from Crystal Palace does not look like it will be extended.
