Millwall's Neil Harris will have many good memories of facing AFC Bournemouth.

Millwall head coach Neil Harris is the Lions' all-time record goalscorer, and there is one club that he seemed to particularly enjoy scoring against.

No player has scored more goals for Millwall than Neil Harris, who sits at the top of the Lions' list of goalscorers ahead of strikers such as Teddy Sheringham, Lee Gregory and Steve Morison.

The 47-year-old enjoyed two spells at The Den, providing a regular source of goals for the club from 1998 until 2004, as well as between 2007 and 2011.

Harris had a spell at Nottingham Forest while he was away from Millwall, but having returned to The Den on a free transfer in January 2007, he made it clear that Millwall was the club for him when he signed a new contract the following year.

"Everyone knows how much this club means to me," he told the BBC at the time.

There are a few teams that Harris scored against on numerous occasions. Over the course of his career, he scored five goals against Bury, Bristol Rovers and Walsall, while he netted six against Brentford, Reading and Oldham Athletic.

However, the opponent that Harris had the most joy against was AFC Bournemouth, as he scored eight goals in 13 meetings with the Cherries.

The first time that Harris scored against Bournemouth was during a home defeat for Millwall in December 1998, before he scored a brace during the Lions' 2-1 victory against them on the south coast the following season.

In December 2000, his winning goal secured a 2-1 away victory for the Lions after a young Jermain Defoe had equalised for Bournemouth earlier in the game.

Harris' best game against the Cherries came in 2009 at The Den, when his hat-trick helped Millwall to a 4-0 victory in the first round of the EFL Cup.

His other goal against Bournemouth was for Gillingham during a League One fixture in 2005, when he scored the opening goal in a narrow defeat for the Gills.

Despite the fact that Harris was on the losing side eight times out of his 13 appearances against Bournemouth, his goalscoring record in those games means the Cherries will surely not remember the striker fondly.

Neil Harris also had a good moment against AFC Bournemouth as a manager

As well as having two stints at Millwall as a player, Harris has also been the Lions' head coach twice.

In January 2017, Harris was in the dugout for Millwall's FA Cup third round tie against Bournemouth at The Den. The visitors, who were in the Premier League, were expected to beat their League One opponents despite making a number of changes to their starting eleven.

Goals from Steve Morison, Shaun Cummings and Shane Ferguson saw the Lions comfortably win 3-0, providing another good moment against Bournemouth for Harris to look back on.

While Harris' goals are just memories now, there are bound to be some Bournemouth supporters who can still remember fearing the striker when he visited their ground during the late 1990s and 2000s.

Neil Harris was an excellent striker for Millwall, so it is fitting that he is the club's record goalscorer, and he must have enjoyed playing against AFC Bournemouth.
