Firstly, everyone knows that I have been very happy here in Monaco since I arrived a year and a half ago. So I want to continue to be part of this project, this adventure. Thiago said what our ambitions were for the future, and I have to say that I love this club, I love being here, especially here at the Performance Centre where I feel good. We want to continue the development of this team, to progress together, and maybe I am the right coach for that, I am not just passing through.

I like to commit to an ambitious project over the long term. And I believe that my mentality and personality are a perfect fit for AS Monaco. When the institution is happy with the results, it is normal for the collaboration to continue. My goal is to work hard every day and get results. If I were not satisfied, I would no longer be the coach of this team! We want to continue on this path, it is not always easy because there are big challenges, but that is what I like deep down.

The match against Paris Saint-Germain

First of all, no team in France has managed to beat this team, only Atlético Madrid came and won at the Parc des Princes. For me, they are one of the best teams in Europe at the moment. They beat us here in December and also in the Trophée des Champions in Doha where it was a tighter affair.

They were better than us, but if we had gone to the penalty shootout, nobody knows what would have happened. At the moment they are very solid, but I always like to go there to show our best possible performance and be competitive. And if we have a great game there, anything is possible!

PSG, the best team you have faced?

We have just played’Inter Milan which is also a very big team, although we cannot compare the playing style of these two teams. Arsenal was also a big opponent I have to say. What is certain is that they have very good players, that they are playing impressive football at the moment. But to come back to the question, I think that Inter, Arsenal and Paris are the three strongest teams that we have faced this season.

On the duo of Breel Embolo – Mika Biereth

The match against Auxerre showed us that they are capable of playing together. After the game, I said that we could play with two strikers, but that in my opinion Breel and George have a bit of the same profile. It is possible to play with two, and I want to have several possibilities in my hands and depending on the current form.

On Eliesse Ben Seghir

We have to be careful about the expectations around him, which are perhaps too high. This is only his first full season for him, where he is in full possession of his physical capacities. Last year he had two injuries and he remains a very young player who helped us a lot at the start of the season.

There are sometimes ups and downs at the start of the career of young talents like Eliesse, so we have to be patient with that. My role is also to protect the players, and I am sure that we will see him perform great again very quickly. At the moment he is not at his best, but he is young and I have no worries about him getting back to the top.
