Chelsea have decided to pay Borussia Dortmund’s asking price of £55m for Jamie Gittens according to Bundesliga expert Christian Falk.
The Blues are once again set for another busy summer and have already signed Liam Delap for £30m, with more new faces expected to arrive.
Chelsea face a critical window and are looking to sign a centre back, versatile forward and left winger to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad ahead of the new season.
Whilst a striker was always the main priority this summer, the Blues have now turned their attention to bringing a left winger in.
Chelsea are short in the wide areas following the departure of Jadon Sancho, with Noni Madueke, Pedro Neto and Tyrique George the only wingers in the Club World Cup squad.
Estevao Willian will join after the Club World Cup, but Chelsea have made Gittens their priority target for the left wing.

Gittens has agreed terms on a seven year contract, but the Blues are yet to reach an agreement with Dortmund, who rejected an offer of £42m earlier this month.
Dortmund are believed to want £55m for Gittens, and it’s thought Bayern Munich have entered the race for the 20-year-old.
However, Falk has provided an update on the situation and has reported Chelsea have now decided to pay the asking price.
“Borussia Dortmund continue to demand a fee of €65m [£55.3m],” he wrote in his Bayern Insider column.
“Here at CF Bayern Insider, we now understand that Chelsea are finally willing to exploit their lead in the race for Gittens.

“The Blues have adapted their earlier position and are now ready to meet the Bundesliga side’s demands.”
Gittens scored 12 goals last season, including four in the Champions League and would be a great fit for Maresca’s squad.
Chelsea are also looking for a versatile forward with Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix both set to leave this summer.
The Blues have been linked with Premier League duo Mohammed Kudus and Joao Pedro, but are yet to make an official move.
Newcastle also want Pedro, with Brighton thought to want around £60m, whilst it’s thought West Ham are open to letting Kudus leave for less than his £85m release clause.
