Tammy Abraham only joined AC Milan at the end of the mercato, but he is already displaying true Rossoneri spirit. Following the game against Inter, he spoke about his joy for the fans as well as the strength of the team.

Since moving to Milan in the dying embers of the summer transfer window, Abraham has been a continuing success. In his first game he set up Rafael Leao to score in the 2-2 draw against Lazio, against Venezia he scored a penalty, and last night he was fantastic.

He started as the focal point of the team – if you can call it that – with Alvaro Morata playing at the trequartista, but it was more a bank of four attackers. The Englishman ran fantastically and was a consistent outlet for the Rossoneri, almost scoring and assisting in the latter stages of the game.

After the victory, he spoke to Milan TV about his feelings, and Milan News have his words.

Emotions for a derby win

“Thank you fans! I can’t describe how I feel, my first derby. We wanted to win and we are very happy to have given our fans this victory, the 3 points, and celebrate with them.”

The group counted today

“We have always known that we are a very good team, that we have good players, then we are working well in training. We know we didn’t have the best possible start, but at the same time we also knew that today was important. We wanted to show everyone that we are fighting and that they should not forget about us.

“Inter are a very good team, but from the first to the last minute we played as a team, the best tonight, we created the best chances. I’m, we’re happy, the goalscorer over there [points at Gabbia], you can see us all cheering and be happy for him.”

On his impact in Milan

“I had to score today in my first derby. The most important thing is that anyway, I have to help my team as much as possible. I came with confidence and desire, I had a bad injury last season and I also came here to show that I’m back. As I said, I had to score tonight, but the most important thing is that we won and now it’s time to celebrate with team-mates and fans.”

Abraham also spoke to CBS Sport and spoke about the feeling of playing and winning the derby.

“I’ve played several great derbies, but nothing is comparable to what I saw tonight. From the first day I arrived, they told me about this derby. I grew up watching these games: two great teams head to head.

“It had been a while since Milan won, so it was important. We knew they were a great team, we saw what they did against Manchester City. We just had to play our own game, we played very well. We created our chances, we played better. Luckily we scored a goal at the end to legitimize our performance.”
