Confirmed Saints boss Ivan Juric promises to be aggressive at Southampton, reveals goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Southampton picked up an impressive point on the road against Fulham at the weekend. Despite Ivan Juric watching on from the stands (due to work permit delays), interim manager Simon Rusk picked up a point and a clean sheet away from home.
This has set Southampton up nicely for their next adventure under confirmed manager Ivan Juric. Perhaps the most impressive part about the Saints' performance was the fact they kept a clean sheet.
This, without a doubt, was largely thanks to Aaron Ramsdale. The investment made in the summer pays off more and more each time he plays as a few important saves were made by Ramsdale, especially in the final stages of the game.
Speaking to the press after returning from his unfortunate injury, Aaron Ramsdale has foreshadowed great things under Ivan Juric. He said that the new manager told Southampton players that he wouldn't join if he thought the Saints were down and out and that he would arrive aggressively.
In his own words, Aaron Ramsdale said: "He spoke this morning, just to say hello and things like that. It’s very clear he is going to try and help us. The first thing he said was he wouldn’t come here if he thought it was done and dusted. He will come with an aggressive nature. That is something we can thrive off."
It is pretty clear, already, the type of character Ivan Juric is. Watching on from the touchline, he would've been impressed with individual performances, especially from Aaron Ramsdale and the Southampton defenders. However, he'll know that work needs to be done in the final third.
Considering many of the Southampton faithful have accepted the likelihood of being relegated, it is great to have a manager at the helm who believes the opposite to be possible. After all, the future of Southampton is in Juric's hands now, not anyone else's.
Next up, Southampton face West Ham United. It is the Boxing Day fixture, which will be played at St Marys Stadium. In this match, Saints fans can get their first taste of what life will be like under Ivan Juric. He's been hired for the big task for a reason... So it's within our best interest to get behind him.
