Saturday was a rather sad day for FC Barcelona, as they had to face the shock of losing one of their first-team doctors, Dr. Carles Minarro, who passed away at the team hotel. As a result of this tragic event, their match against Osasuna was postponed to a yet-to-be-decided date.

However, Hansi Flick’s team continued their training session on Sunday, especially with a crucial second-leg clash against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 awaiting them.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, there was a new face in the Blaugrana team’s training session on Sunday, i.e., the 18-year-old goalkeeper Max Bonfill, who was the third goalkeeper in the session, after Wojciech Szczęsny and Iñaki Peña.

The young goalie was called up for this training session only because of the absence of Ander Astralaga, who is usually the third goalkeeper in the squad, along with the two keepers competing for a starting spot.

The Spanish goalkeeper has been out for the last one and a half months due to tendonitis in the left ankle, and the other two goalkeepers who are frequently called up for the first team, Diego Kochen and Áron Yaakobishvili, had matches on Sunday.

The former started for Barcelona Atletic in the defeat to Osasuna Promesas while the latter was in action with Juvenil A and helped his side clinch a win against UE Cornella.

Thus, Bonfill is not expected to be a part of the squad for the upcoming game against Benfica on Tuesday, as Diego Kochen will be available to be a part of the first-team squad and be the third goalkeeper.

Still, it must have been a memorable experience training with the first-team players for the 18-year-old Juvenil A goalkeeper, and hopefully, he will have taken full advantage of this opportunity.
