Comments on the part of Manchester City star Erling Haaland have turned heads across Spain over the last 24 hours.

This comes after the Norwegian took advantage of the opportunity to issue a response to La Roja star Marc Cucurella.

Defender Cucurella for his part poked fun at Haaland earlier in the summer.

Amid Spain’s celebrations after triumphing at Euro 2024, the 26-year-old led the country’s fans in a well-known chant, one line of which specifies:

“Haaland you better tremble, as Cucurella is coming!”

All eyes, in turn, centered on the two players, upon Manchester City and Chelsea locking horns as part of the Premier League season’s opening round of fixtures.

And, safe to say, when all was said and done, it was Haaland who had the last laugh.

The prolific frontman brushed Cucurella aside en route to opening the scoring in a 2-0 Man City victory at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Then, speaking to the media post-match, Haaland provided the perfect verbal response, too.

During an interview with fellow countryman Jan Aage Fjørtoft, as cited by Fabrizio Romano, the former Borussia Dortmund sensation explained:

“Well, Cucurella is a funny man. Last season he asked for my shirt… and this summer he sings a song about me…”
