A fifth semi-final derby: All the key stats ahead of Inter vs. Milan | OneFootball

AC Milan and Inter will face each other for the fifth and final time this season in tonight’s Coppa Italia semi-final second leg, with everything to play for.

The tie is even after the two sides drew the first leg 1-1 at San Siro three weeks ago. Both goals came in the second half as Tammy Abraham got the opener with a lovely turn and finish before Hakan Calhanoglu equalised with a strike from range.

➤ The two teams have eight previous meetings in the knockout phase of the Coppa Italia before the final and both have advanced to the next round on four occasions (the most recent in favour of the Nerazzurri in 2021-22, in the semi-final).

➤ This is the fifth time that a Milan derby will be played in a cup semi-final, after the previous ones in the Coppa Italia in 1984-85 and 2021-22 and those in the UEFA Champions League in 2002-03 and 2022-23: after Milan had progressed on the first two occasions, it was Inter who prevailed in the two most recent ones.

➤ After the two draws in the last two games in all competitions (1-1 in Serie A on 2 February and Coppa Italia on 2 April), Inter and AC Milan could draw three games in a row for the first time since the period between October 1967 and June 1968.

➤ Tammy Abraham has scored in two of the last three games against Inter in all competitions, including the first leg of the semi-final. The last player to have scored in two consecutive matches in the Coppa Italia against the Nerazzurri was Andriy Shevchenko in the 1999-00 season.

➤ Lautaro Martinez has scored eight goals in the Coppa Italia, more than any other Inter player in the last 20 seasons in the competition (Julio Cruz also scored eight). He has scored nine goals in 19 appearances against Milan in all competitions.
