A €90m transfer now looks inevitable after the latest developments.
Liverpool are pursuing a number of options in the transfer market this summer. Richard Hughes is expecting a busy window ahead with several areas to bolster.

Among Hughes' key tasks will be finding a replacement for Jarell Quansah. Meanwhile, depending on departures in attack, with Federico Chiesa, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz all facing uncertain futures, Hughes will also need to strengthen the forward line.
But who the striker that Liverpool are going to ultimately sign remains up in the air. Alexander Isak remains Liverpool's dream target however at the moment that's all he is - a dream.
Newcastle do not wish to sell their prized forward and unless their stance changes Liverpool look certain to have to sign someone else instead.
This is where it becomes inevitable who the Reds will be signing. There has been a lot of talk about Hugo Ekitike. However, the Frenchman could also be staying put at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Other strikers on the market like Liam Delap and Joao Pedro have signed for Chelsea. Viktor Gyokeres looks certain to join Arsenal. Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen has his sights on a return to Galatasaray instead.
So, who else remains for Liverpool?
There's one inevitable option, and that option is someone who is very likely to be on the market. We're talking about Benjamin Sesko. After his latest activity we are convinced he's certain to join the Reds this summer and there are several reasons as to why.
First of all, Sesko is on the market. RB Leipzig missed out on the Champions League, which means they are embarking on a season of change and that has opened the door for all of their top stars to leave the club.
Sesko is a powerful and rapid forward, who would suit playing alongside Florian Wirtz and Mohamed Salah. He's still very young, having only recently turned 22-years-old.
RB Leipzig reportedly want €90m for his services as per TEAMtalk which is why Arsenal walked away from the deal to sign the Slovenian international.
After this news emerged, it was interesting to see Sesko follow Liverpool on Instagram and also pin his game at Anfield against the Reds in the Champions League at the top of his profile as spotted by Anything Liverpool on X.
This could be a massive hint at a move or what Sesko's preference is.
It's also important to note that what might have been an obstacle for Arsenal, may not be an obstacle for Liverpool. After all, the club has a very good relationship with Red Bull and particularly RB Leipzig.
Over the last few seasons, Liverpool have signed the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Ibrahima Konate from the German side. And they've sent a fair few of their younger players to various Red Bull clubs.
Not to mention Jurgen Klopp is now also working for Red Bull and his presence could help in negotiations as well.
Meanwhile, Anfield Watch understands Liverpool have been a fan of Sesko for a long time and the club's scouts have watched him on a number of occasions last season so there is interest there.
