Happy 80th birthday, Sepp Maier! To mark the landmark occasion, we’ve taken a look back on the unique career of the legendary Bayern goalkeeper in our short documentary. Long-time companions like Uli Hoeneß, Franz ‘Bulle’ Roth, Paul Breitner, Günter Netzer and even Maier’s daughter Alexandra recall anecdotes and talk about the incomparable ‘Cat from Anzing’.

The documentary covers both the superb sportsman but also the always loveable person. It also recounts the strange scenario that saw Maier moved from his usual position of striker to goalkeeper in a youth game for TSV Haar against Bayern, but still end up joining FCB in the end despite a 12-0 loss.
