A recent Ibrox Noise poll has painted a very telling picture of the current Rangers fanbase as fans vote and their sentiment towards new manager Russell Martin. Rangers fans vote on Russell Martin & the results suggest a fanbase deeply unsure of the man, yet still willing to give him an opportunity. That Rangers fans want Martin to succeed cannot be disputed, but the poll exposes a cautious optimism that tempers expectations across the board.

According to the poll, 73%of Rangers supporters (sample of 1000) responded by stating they want Martin to be given time, despite major reservations. This sizeable majority represents fans who recognise the scale of the rebuild but are far from convinced by the early signs. Rangers have seen enough managers come and go in recent years to know kneejerk reactions rarely help, so a longer-term view may be the right call, even if Russell Martin already sits under major pressure.

Ibrox Noise presented a clear breakdown. Just 15% of fans polled stand fully behind Martin, no matter what. This small group has either bought into his philosophy already or simply chooses to support whoever takes the role. Their loyalty shows strength but seems blind to some clear warning signs. Rangers fans have every right to question a manager, especially one who has yet to prove anything at Ibrox.

On the other end of the spectrum, 12%t of voters already want the manager gone. This group believes Rangers require more than vague plans and long-winded pressers. They demand results and clarity now, and they are not alone in that view as echoed across major football outlets.

You can also spin this in different ways. That 88% of all fans are either cautiously behind him or completely, giving him huge support, or that 85% are cautious or against him. Just depends on your take.

The results mirror what Ibrox Noise has analysed all summer. Russell Martin continues to divide opinion, even before the first few fixtures have concluded. Rangers fans do not yet feel inspired. Most do not outright condemn him, but they do not view him with the confidence previous managers once earned. The backing exists, but it feels tentative.

While a small number support Martin fully and others reject him altogether, the overwhelming majority sit somewhere in the middle. This middle ground creates a fragile environment where one or two bad results could cause massive unrest. Rangers have always had a passionate fanbase, and Martin must prove quickly that he is not just talk.

The wider press has also picked up on the unease surrounding the appointment. Martin’s reputation hinges not just on what he says but what he delivers. The margin for error remains razor-thin, and Rangers fans will continue to expect more.
