Liverpool could sign an ideal player at a cut-price fee. They can't ignore this one.
Liverpool went into this summer wanting a new striker, with Darwin Nunez expected to join Napoli. The Uruguayan hasn't quite worked out at Anfield.
Inconsistency has been the real issue there. Nunez has all the quality in the world, quite honestly, and on paper is the perfect striker.
He just doesn't put the ball in the net reliably enough. For a team like Liverpool, who want one leading striker, it no longer feels as though Nunez can be the right fit.
Finding that new forward is tough, though. Alexander Isak is unquestionably the priority target but he might be literally unobtainable if Newcastle United don't want to sell.
Even £150m might not get that one done.
But another option has popped up and we think it's too good for Liverpool to ignore. The Reds' next no.9?
Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Paris Saint-Germain are very much open to selling Randal Kolo Muani. Juventus are eager to bring the Frenchman bag after a very successful loan spell.
However, they can only really afford him on loan again. Their hope is that €40m might be enough to get a deal done in 2026 but that would require loaning him for another year and paying a decent chunk of change to do so.
PSG would rather sell the player - though are supposedly open to the loan idea.
The thinking is that Kolo Muani is worth around €57m on their books right now. Selling him for €40m would count as a sizeable loss for the year, while waiting would actually make it a slight €2m profit.
Liverpool, though, should pay attention as €60m for Kolo Muani this summer could be a fantastic deal. He’s a versatile forward, capable of playing on the flanks, while his numbers for goals and assists have been consistent.
Kolo Muani has averaged over 0.7 goals and assists per 90 minutes for the last three seasons, even with limited minutes at PSG. He’s got goals and assists in three different leagues now, too, having broken through at Nantes in Ligue 1, thrived at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, and been a real success in Serie A.
He may well be the player Liverpool are after. His playing style fits the bill, he’s got good experience and he’s almost certainly undervalued right now.
One to watch.
