466 days on from their last Champions League meeting with Man City, the “recipe” has not changed for Inter Milan.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Plenty has changed at both Inter and City since the two teams squared off in the final of the 2022-23 edition of the Champions League.

In Inter’s case, there has been some significant turnover in the squad.

All of Marcelo Brozovic, Edin Dzeko, and Andre Onana started in the final in 2023. And all three have since left Inter.

Meanwhile, substitutes in that match Romelu Lukaku, Robin Gosens, Raoul Bellanova, and Danilo D’Ambrosio are also all gone.

Coming in the other direction Inter have signed the likes of Yann Sommer, Carlos Augusto, Benjamin Pavard, and Marcus Thuram. All four have become key players.

And this summer, the likes of Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi arrived to bolster Inter’s squad.

The “Recipe” Remains The Same Despite Squad Changes For Inter Vs Man City

But one thing that hasn’t changed much in the last 466 days for Inter is the way they play.

The coach is still Simone Inzaghi. And he has kept a core of players intact.

Therefore, while there will certainly be a starting lineup with a few new names in this evening’s resumption of hostilities with City, the approach won’t be radically different.

Inter play in a 3-5-2 shape under Inzaghi. That is certainly no secret.

One of the formations most significant attributes is its versatility.

That was on full display against City in the final in 2023.

Inter were able to disrupt City’s possession with a team shape that allowed them to cover all areas of the pitch.

The pressing from the front of the strikers and midfielders was important. As was the ability of the defenders and wingbacks to join the attack in the right moments.

It will be the same thing this evening.

If Inter are to get a result, they will need to employ the same sort of gameplan – even if some of the names on the teamsheet are different.
