No fewer than eight players, spread across the respective squads of Barcelona and Real Madrid, are set to miss this weekend’s Copa del Rey final.

One of the highlights of the Spanish football calendar is of course set to play out on Saturday night.

The matchup in question will see the country’s two biggest clubs lock horns with silverware on the line, in the finale of the Copa del Rey.

For Barcelona, the matchup marks a chance to keep their hopes of a historic treble alive. Whilst for Real Madrid, it represents an opportunity to salvage what has been an underwhelming campaign to date.

In efforts towards their respective goals, however, both sides, as alluded to above, will be forced to make do without the contributions of some altogether high-profile players.

From Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad, all of Alejandro Balde, Marc Bernal, Robert Lewandowski and Marc Casadó have been ruled out through injury.

Marc-André ter Stegen, meanwhile, has been afforded a matchday call-up, but only to take his place on the Blaugrana bench.

Turning attentions towards Real Madrid, a fresh name was added to Los Blancos’ absentee list this week, in Eduardo Camavinga.

The Frenchman joins Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão in being set to miss out at La Cartuja.
