Sergio Reguilon is rejoining Tottenham Hotspur after a loan spell at Manchester United.
The Spanish left-back joined the Red Devils back in September 2023, amid an injury crisis at Old Trafford which forced manager Erik ten Hag into a loan acquisition.
The 27-year-old initially joined from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until June 2024.
However, now it appears he’ll be back sooner than anticipated, with Ange Postecoglou welcoming him back to Hotspur Way.

The Athletic’s own David Ornstein took to X today to reveal the news that Reguilon will be coming back to North London in January. He writes:
‘Sergio Reguilon is rejoining Tottenham Hotspur from Manchester United. Season-long loan included break clause for left-back to return in January & #MUFC have activated that option (always minded to do so). 27yo played 12 games.’
It always appears that Manchester United’s intention with Reguilon was to send him back in January.
They had long-term injuries to both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, so Reguilon was probably more a means to an end for the Red Devils rather than a genuine target.
The big question has to be now, what is next for Sergio Reguilon?
One thing is for certain, he won’t be breaking into the Tottenham starting XI anytime soon. That spot is now firmly locked down by Destiny Udogie.
The Sun have reported that Borussia Dortmund may be interested in signing him permanently, which could draw some more funds for Postecoglou as he looks to splash the cash in the window.
Tottenham appear to have one incoming soon at least, a defender in Radu Dragusin who has already agreed to personal terms.
Whatever happens with Reguilon, we welcome him back for now.
