[25/26 PL R3 리뷰] 후반에 두 골 헌납한 맨시티, 브라이튼에 1-2 역전패 | OneFootball

맨체스터 시티(맨시티)가 브라이튼 원정에서 엘링 홀란드가 선제골을 넣었으나 후반전 연속골을 허용하며 1-2 역전패를 당했다.

맨시는 31일(한국시각) 브라이튼을 상대한 2025/26 잉글랜드 프리미어 리그 3라운드 원정 경기에서 1-2로 패했다.

이날 개인 통산 100번째 프리미어 리그 경기에 출전한 공격수 홀란드가 34분 선제골을 넣었다. 그러나 브라이튼은 후반전 제임스 밀너가 페널티 킥으로 동점골을 기록한 데 이어 브라얀 그루다가 경기 종료 1분 전 역전골을 터뜨렸다.

한편 맨시티 미드필더 로드리는 지난 2024년 무릎 십자인대 부상을 당한 후 이날 처음으로 선발 출전했다.

경기 내용 재구성

맨시티는 경기 초반부터 티아니 레인더스가 찔러준 침투 패스를 홀란드가 문전에서 슈팅으로 연결했으나 상대 골키퍼 정면으로 향했다.

그러나 홀란드는 34분 라얀 아이트누리가 연결한 패스를 오마르 마르무시가 상대 수비수 루이스 덩크의 다리 사이를 통과시킨 볼을 그대로 마무리하며 골망을 갈랐다.

맨시티는 선제골을 기록한 후에도 마르무시의 크로스를 오스카 보브가 슈팅으로 연결하는 등 추가 득점을 노렸다.

그러나 이후 브라이튼은 60~61분 선수 네 명을 한꺼번에 교체 투입하며 경기 흐름에 변화를 줬다. 밀너, 야신 아야리, 조르지뇨 뤼터, 그루다가 교체 출전했다. 브라이튼은 선수 교체 후 주도권을 잡기 시작했다.

결국, 브라이튼은 덩크의 발리슛이 마테우스 누네스의 팔에 맞으며 페널티 킥을 얻어냈다. 이를 교체 투입된 밀너가 득점하며 승부를 원점으로 돌렸다.

이후 브라이튼은 경기 종료를 단 1분 남겨두고 그루다가 역전골을 터뜨리며 극적인 2-1 승리를 거뒀다.

Rodri returns

City fans, delighted to see him back, gave Rodri a rousing response every time he came anywhere near the away end.

The current Ballon d’Or holder's return for his first Premier League start in nearly a year was one of the bright spots of a disappointing day.

Guardiola, who described his return as ‘big news’ ahead of kick-off, has been careful with his return to try to avoid any setbacks.

At times, it was almost like the Spaniard had never been away as he orchestrated City’s possession domination from the base of midfield.

Haaland hundred

A century of Premier League appearances for the City striker and Haaland marked the occasion the only way he knows how.

The Brighton defence seemed intent on trying to unsettle the Norwegian but he kept his cool to steer the Blues ahead in the first half.

Haaland already had more goals from his first 100 appearances than anyone in Premier League history even before hitting the milestone against the Seagulls.

Another stretched his total to 88 – nine more than previous record holder Alan Shearer with 79. City legend Sergio Aguero is fourth on the list with 64.

Time for a break

Guardiola now has two weeks to reflect on a frustrating start to the campaign.

Two defeats in our opening three matches will be a big  disappointment for a team used to competing for trophies.

Manchester derbies are always huge occasions and the one at the Etihad when we return in a fortnight's time will be very tasty.

It will feel like a long wait for the occasion with City used to having the opportunity to be able to have an instant response, but Pep will be working hard to get us ready.

Guardiola reaction

"We concede the goal and after that it shifted. Until then it was really, really good, we had chances and the team looked aggressive and dynamic.

"We made a good hour and then after the last half an hour we were not good. We forgot to pass the ball, just played long balls and we were not good enough. It is what it is.

"Erling is our big threat but in general we made a good hour and after we concede the goal, a bit like Tottenham, we concede and everywhere we don't continue to do what we need to do.

"It can happen, you still have time because it is possible to concede in the Premier League. Of course everyone makes the substitutions to get better and they did it well but it all changed after the goal.

"We have a really good squad and of course we changed many things from the past to now, which is normal, we need new players to adapt and we need the older ones to help them to cope."

Player reaction

"[It's] disappointing because we’re Man City and we come here to win. But this is the reality, we are not at the level for a long, long time.

"The only way to come back is to look at ourselves. That’s the reality. I think we started well but in the second half we dropped a little bit, and here at their home with the pressure and two big mistakes from us and then 2-1."

Back-to-back defeats means City are now 12th in the early Premier League table after just three games.
