Norwich City currently sit just two points below the Championship play-off spots, following an emphatic 5-1 victory over Swansea City and last Saturday's 1-0 win over fellow top-six chasers Watford.

This weekend, they host Derby County, which gives them a huge opportunity to add yet another three points to their tally, as the Rams have lost each of their last seven Championship games, and consequently occupy an unwanted spot in the relegation zone.

The Canaries also enjoyed a somewhat busy January transfer window, as they acquired the loan additions of Lewis Dobbin and Jacob Wright from Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Manchester City respectively.

Johannes Hoff Thorup's side also agreed permanent deals for former Brighton youngster Ruairi McConville, and ex-Slavia Prague winger Matej Jurasek.

Ahead of the business end of the Championship campaign, Football League World asked our Canaries fan pundit, Zeke Downes, which player at the club he expected to attract the most transfer interest in the summer and why.

Zeke said: "I'd imagine the player that will attract the most interest would be Borja Sainz, at the end of the season.

"I think, because he's obviously now got a reputation of being able to score goals, and that's as a winger, which is pretty rare.

"Obviously, now he is out, but he will be back soon, and if he can regain the form that he had at the start of the season, then I would imagine that there will be a lot of interest in him.

"He's probably how we're going to then build the rest of the squad, because I'd imagine it (the potential transfer fee) will be a little bit of money, probably £20m, £25m.

"So, with that money we can do a lot.

"We can get another striker, we'll have to have another winger obviously, we can probably get another keeper, so there's a lot of areas that we can strengthen with that money.

"I would imagine that it will be him, but only if he gets the form back, that he had at the start of the season, and obviously if he isn't injured as well, because that's one of the main stumbling blocks I think, when it comes to big transfer fees."

Norwich could get a lot of money from selling Borja Sainz in the summer

The best endorsement of Sainz's excellent quality is the fact that he is still the top scorer in the Championship, despite the fact he has not made an appearance since 4th January, due to being handed a six-game ban.

So far this term, the Spaniard has scored 15 goals in 26 league appearances, which would be an impressive return for a striker, let alone a winger, as alluded to by Zeke.

After signing a three-year deal at Carrow Road ahead of last season, Sainz is still under contract with the Canaries until the summer of 2026, meaning his current club should be in no rush to cash in on his services.

However, if Hoff Thorup's men are able to receive the sort of transfer fee FLW's Norwich fan pundit has suggested, then the Norfolk club would be tempted to sell their star man.

Such a large transfer fee for Sainz's services is not beyond the bounds of possibility either, as he boasts bags of potential at 23 years, and has been subject to interest from high-profile La Liga sides such as Villareal and Atletico Madrid, as well as Turkish giants Galatasaray.
