2023/24 Player Stats: The Story so far | OneFootball

Any top team is made of up contributions from all over the pitch - and few teams have more productive players than City.

As we enter the final two months of another thrilling campaign, stats provider Opta have shared our player numbers in several key categories.

They take in everything from minutes played, possession won, tackles made - and everything in-between.

So, here are the leading five player contributions in each of the categories - and this is representative of all the competitions we have taken part in this campaign.

Minutes Played

3300 - Phil Foden

3275 - Kyle Walker

3168 - Rodrigo

2933 - Ruben Dias

So Phil Foden has played more minutes this season than any other City player.

He’s had 25 minutes more than skipper Kyle Walker, 132 more than Rodrigo and 176 ahead of Ederson.

With Ruben Dias on 2933, these numbers represent the five most used players this season.

Goals + Assists

35 - Erling Haaland

28 - Phil Foden

28 - Julian Alvarez

16 - Rodrigo

15 - Bernardo

The combined list of goals and assists highlights the players who have been most productive scoring and setting up goals for their team-mates.

Erling Haaland’s 29 goals so far would have propelled him to the summit alone, but his six assists keep him well out in front.

Foden and Julian Alvarez are both having fine campaigns, with strong contributions from Rodrigo and Bernardo.

No surprises here.

Erling Haaland may have missed two months with a foot injury, but he is way out in front in the goal-scoring stakes with 29 to date – and if City were to progress to two finals, there is potentially 17 more games of this campaign still to play.

Foden’s best scoring campaign yet continues with 18, while Alvarez has a more than decent 16 to his name.

Only one other City star has reached double figures this season – Bernardo – with 10 goals.

Assists

12 - Kevin De Bruyne

12 - Julian Alvarez

9 - Rodrigo

6 - Jeremy Doku/Erling Haaland

This list is pretty special – Kevin De Bruyne tops the assists list with 12 from just 14 games.

Given KDB has missed five months of the campaign, that is an incredible return and illustrates just how important his contribution will be in the final two months of the season.

Alvarez is also on 12, with Foden making another list top 5 for his 10 assists.

Rodrigo’s importance all over the pitch is also highlighted with his nine assists to date.

Chances Created

44 - Jack Grealish

No City player has created more opportunities than Alvarez so far – though Foden is just two behind the Argentine’s total of 88.

It’s no surprise to see Bernardo high on the list with 72, but again Rodrigo features highly having made 59 chances for his team-mates to score.

Despite a season disrupted by injury, Jack Grealish’s 44 opportunities created underscores his importance to the team.

Shooting Accuracy

81.3% - Jack Grealish

75% - John Stones

67.1% -  Phil Foden

62% - Julian Alvarez

61.2% - Erling Haaland

And Jack tops the shooting accuracy charts at City thus far.

His 81.3% means that 8 out of 10 shots find the target – with England team-mates John Stones and Foden second and third on the accuracy list.

The more shots you have, the likelier your percentage will be lower – as proved by the prolific Haaland who has had 141 shots with 61.2% on target.

Interceptions

33 - Ruben Dias

30 - Josko Gvardiol

20 - Bernardo

29 - Manuel Akanji

28 - Rodrigo

A vital stat in any Pep Guardiola side in the process of turnovers and transitions.

Ruben Dias tops this list with 33, with Josko Gvardiol and Bernardo both just three interceptions fewer.

There’s no surprise to find Manuel Akanji and, of course, Rodrigo also high on the list with 29 and 28 respectively.

As with interceptions, Pep would rank this discipline as another crucial part of his team’s processes.

And our Spanish colossus is far and away the leader in this list with 242 – though winning possession is a vital part of any midfield anchor’s remit.

Kyle Walker, also having a stellar campaign, with 191 the most of any of our defenders.

Gvardiol, Akanji and Nathan Ake have all made 150-plus actions that have won the ball back for the team.

Tackles

75 - Rodrigo

39 - Ruben Dias

39 - Nathan Ake

Rodrigo’s 75 tackles may not be a surprise leader in this top 5, but winger Bernardo’s 56 is evidence (if needed!) of the Portuguese’s tireless efforts for the team.

There are few wingers – or attacking midfielders who can claim to have made so many successful challenges, but that work ethic is evident every time he pulls on a sky blue jersey.

Walker, Dias and Ake are all separated by just one tackle.

Dribbles completed

99 - Jeremy Doku

58 - Phil Foden

42 - Rodrigo

37 - Bernardo

30 - Matheus Nunes

Our final contributions list is the dribbling category.

Jeremy Doku’s dribble stats were among the best in Europe prior to joining City and that he has completed 99 since arriving at the Club is proof of this exciting winger’s mesmeric abilities.

Foden’s 58 is impressive enough, but who would have thought Rodrigo would appear on this list as well?

His 42 completed dribbles back up Pep Guardiola’s assertion that Rodrigo is one of the most complete midfielders in world football.

Bernardo (37) and Matheus Nunes (30) are also impressive numbers.
