Journalist Ekrem Konur has reported that FC Porto wants to sign 20-year-old Liverpool player Stefan Bajcetic. They are ready to offer €10-15 million in order to sign the Liverpool prodigy. The player has not been at his best for RB Salzburg in the first half of the 2024/25 season.

However, reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that UD Las Palmas will sign the 20-year-old on loan till the end of the ongoing season. However, there won’t be any permanent buy option in the deal, and the player will be back to Liverpool in the summer.

The Reds signed the player from Celta Vigo in the summer transfer window of 2021. He is known for his remarkable composure and football intelligence. Bajcetic excels in reading the game and controlling spaces on the pitch. His physical attributes, including speed and agility, allow him to manage both defensive and offensive transitions effectively.

He is noted for his passing accuracy, particularly in delivering diagonal balls, showcasing his vision and technique. Bajcetic’s ability to invite pressure and then navigate out of it with poise is a testament to his tactical awareness. His versatility to play as a defensive midfielder or centre-back adds significant value to his team.

Why is it a good move?

He has featured as a defender for Salzburg and has conceded eight goals and kept six clean sheets in 12 matches in the Bundesliga 2024/2025 season. That means when Bajcetic Maquieira is on the pitch, his team concedes a goal every 77 minutes. Moreover, he’s made 3.07 tackles and 1.23 interceptions for every 90 minutes he was on the pitch. Bajcetic Maquieira is also racking up about 1.84 clearances at the same time.

He has played for Liverpool for a short time, but the Reds wanted him to get invaluable game time, which has not happened in his loan period at Salzburg. He has appeared in 12 matches this season in Bundesliga, playing a total of 613 minutes. So, the player going to Las Palmas on a loan deal might help him to play regularly and gain more experience. Liverpool will definitely not accept the €10-15 million bid from Porto, as they don’t want to sell him permanently at this period of time.
