Rangers may be about to lose Nico Raskin—but not to West Ham.
While the Hammers were sniffing around the Belgian with talk of an £8M move, reports now suggest a Premier League rival is preparing to blow that clean out the water with a massive £15M offer. And for a player who cost Rangers just over £1M, that’s a figure too big to ignore.
As we discussed earlier this week, Raskin’s future at Ibrox has been under scrutiny. A mixed season of injuries, attitude questions and inconsistent form has left many fans unconvinced he’s the answer in Barry Ferguson’s midfield rebuild.
That said, £15M for a squad player is a sensational return, and could prove pivotal in the boss’s summer plans. We explained how Ferguson wants at least three more bodies in key areas, and that kind of money gives Rangers serious flexibility.
Raskin, still only 23, has bags of technical talent and an engine on him—but the question marks over consistency and focus haven’t gone away. Fans noticed his recent social media behaviour, with subtle hints he might be looking elsewhere—and this latest development makes that look even more likely.
According to TeamTalk, the £15M offer is being readied by an unnamed top-tier club, who have scouted Raskin heavily and are keen to strike before the window officially opens. Whether it’s Brighton, Wolves or someone else remains to be seen—but it’s clear this goes beyond West Ham’s interest and could accelerate quickly.
It’s a potential win-win. Rangers offload a player who’s yet to fully convince under multiple managers, make a staggering profit, and reinvest the funds into players Barry truly trusts.
The only question now is whether Raskin himself wants the move—and who the mystery club turns out to be.
One thing’s for sure though: £15M is not to be sniffed at.
