Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has looked to attempt to draw some positives from his side’s 4-1 defeat against Celtic in the USA last night.

Maresca has now played two, drawn one, and lost one, with the latest result being a thrashing. Of course, I think most fans know not to get carried away by pre-season friendlies either way, but there was certainly some concerning signs from Chelsea last night, and Maresca has also drawn in on those as well.

Chelsea were thrashed by Celtic

Chelsea scored two open play goals against Wrexham, only conceded two, and didn’t lost the match. But despite this, there is one element of play that Maresca believes his side were ten times better at.

As cited by Football London, Maresca said: “For us, we need to analyse the game in general. I think on the ball, the team were 10 times better than in the game against Wrexham and that is important because we can see the amount of chances we created first-half and second-half.

“And off the ball, for sure, we can improve things and you can see sometimes we confuse when we need to play short, a little bit longer. It’s part of the process.”
