Michael Zorc has insisted that Borussia Dortmund will be gunning for RB Leipzig when the sides meet on Saturday evening.
BVB go into the meeting at the Red Bull Arena six points behind Julian Nagelsmann’s side, who currently occupy second spot in the Bundesliga.
It was a happy return from the mini winter break last week as Dortmund saw off Wolfsburg 2-0 at the Westfalenstadion but have ground to make up on Leipzig after a poor start to the season.
Zorc, speaking in Thursday’s press conference ahead of the game, said: “I see us in the role of the hunter.
“We want to beat Leipzig and reduce the distance to the top of the table.”
Under Edin Terzić the club have won two out of their three league matches and have five games left in January to get their season back on track.
The caretaker head coach believes it could be a pivotal month in their quest for Champions League qualification: “The whole of January sets the trend for the rest of the season.
“You can quickly influence the table situation against direct competitors, which is why the game on Saturday is very important.”
Youssoufa Moukoko could be in line to return to the squad at the weekend after Terzić confirmed that the teenager had returned to training.
