Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s speech after Milan’s Supercoppa Italiana win: “This is Milan, we play for these trophies” | OneFootball

Serie A giants Milan won the Supercoppa Italiana yesterday by beating Inter in dramatic fashion.

The Rossoneri found themselves 2-0 down in the 47th minute but goals from Theo Hernandez, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham saw them complete a thrilling comeback and seal the title for the first time since 2016.

It was also Sergio Conceicao’s second game as manager and he won silverware in that, following it up with his iconic celebration in the dressing room.

After the game, club advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke to the players and gave a speech to the side after the trophy win.

He said, as relayed by MilanNews: We have achieved one of our objectives. What we were looking for is a reaction: this (pointing to the trophy) is our reaction. Before speaking, I want to congratulate the coach and his staff: in a few days you have done a great job.”

Speaking about Conceicao, Ibrahimovic said: “Thank goodness you had a fever, Sergio, otherwise you would have broken more than a television. Congratulations also to the players. You won this trophy with sweat, sacrifice and the desire to win. When a team has this desire to win it is difficult to beat them, it is difficult guys.

Speaking further, the Swede said: “When we started the championship, I told you that everything depends on us, because it is all in your head. Today you have shown it. Now we return to Italy, we bring this mentality, we recover points to be where we need to be. Then congratulations also to all those who were with us with the team. It is also thanks to you, even if you are not you are famous and on the pitch, but you are as important as those who play. Milan are currenty eighth in the table and need some heroics in the league as well to turn things around.
