Zlatan Ibrahimovic's incredible free-kick in David Beckham's final game at PSG | OneFootball

David Beckham is one of the greatest free-kick takers in history.

The Englishman was the epitome of a dead-ball specialist throughout the course of his glittering professional career.

All in all, Beckham scored 65 goals from free-kick situations, including a famous stunner against Greece in 2001 that booked England’s place at the 2002 World Cup.

The man aptly nicknamed ‘Golden Balls’ is also still the Premier League’s leading scorer from free-kicks with 18, although Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse is closing in on that record.

Paris Saint-Germain, which was where he officially retired from the sport in 2013.

And in Beckham’s final professional outing against Brest at the Parc Des Princes, Zlatan Ibrahimovic actually took over set-piece duty for PSG.

However, the Swedish icon did the master of the craft proud.

From 25 yards out and with Beckham stood next to him, Ibrahimovic produced an absolute piledriver with his right peg that flew into the back of the net.

An unreal strike from Ibrahimovic and Beckham celebrated the moment of magic as jubilantly as anyone on the pitch.

While the former England captain wasn’t able to add another trademark free-kick to his collection against Brest, he did chip with the assist for Blaise Matuidi’s first half goal.

PSG won the game 3-1, with Beckham receiving a standing ovation when he was subbed off in the 80th minute of play. He then lifted the Ligue 1 trophy with the rest of his colleagues after the conclusion of the match.

It really was a fitting finale for a true legend of the sport.

Soon after Beckham called time on his career, ex-England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson paid tribute to him with some very touching words.

“A fantastic football player, a fantastic man, probably the biggest sports personality in the world,” he said. “If you talk about David Beckham, all over the world they know who that it is.

“I don’t think there is any other football player more popular than him. I remember all the matches with England and all the travelling – airports, hotels – and it was all about Beckham all the time. I rank him very, very highly. I never had any doubts about picking him.”
