The Moroccan international will make the move to the Premier League this summer after Chelsea agreed a £37m deal with the Dutch champions for his services. Thee playmaker starred for Ajax in recent seasons by helping the club to a domestic double and the semi-finals of the Champions League.
According to the Daily Mail, however, the 26-year-old is keen for current teammate Onana to follow him to Stamford Bridge and is hopeful of persuading the Blues to make a move for the Cameroonian international.
Onana is eyeing his own move to English football at the end of the season after five years in Amsterdam, with the goalkeeper’s preference believed to be a switch to either Chelsea or London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Barcelona youth player has established himself as one of the most talented goalkeepers outside of Europe’s top five leagues at present and now feels he is ready to test himself in the Premier League, with Ziyech keen for the 23-year-old to follow the path he himself will take in moving to south west London.
Frank Lampard is reportedly considering his goalkeeping options this summer following a below-par season from Kepa Arrizabalaga, the world’s most expensive goalkeeper having been dropped earlier this season in favour of veteran deputy Willy Caballero.
The Spanish international has returned to the team of late but his future remains uncertain, and a move for Onana could come to fruition as Lampard assesses potential goalkeeping targets.
