Former Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee has no intention of leaving Manchester United in January according to Sky Sport DE pundit Florian Plettenberg, despite recent rumours linking him with a loan move that would reunite him with former Rossoblu coach Thiago Motta at Juventus.
Zirkzee joined United from Bologna in the summer, becoming one of the most expensive sales of the Serie A window. Despite scoring the winner off the bench on his Premier League debut, the Dutchman has not impressed at Old Trafford in the same way that he did at the Dall’Ara thus far.
Juventus are reportedly looking for a back-up option to Dusan Vlahovic at centre-forward ahead of the January window, but with little room to play with in the budget, the Bianconeri would only be likely to negotiate a loan move, or a deal for a soon-to-be free agent, according to recent updates.
Though some reports in Italy have suggested that Juventus would be keen on a loan deal for Zirkzee, they were aware that the deal would have still been relatively expensive given the player’s contract situation and the fact that he only signed a few months ago.
Plettenberg’s update, suggesting that the player does not intend to leave Old Trafford this season, effectively puts the links between Zirkzee and Juventus to bed for now.
