Sint-Truiden’s 20-year-old goalkeeper Zion Suzuki is still having to wait to be eligible to make an appearance for the side. Recently signed from Urawa Reds in the J-League, the club are still having to wait for his paperwork to be cleared before he can begin to fight for a place in the side. The goalkeeper also revealed to GOAL that he rejected a move to Manchester United in order to sign for Sint-Truiden and play first-team football.

In order to become the club’s number one option, Suzuki will have to get the better of Daniel Schmidt. However, that may well be possible given that the veteran Japanese international is waiting for a move abroad. According to HBVL, he rejected a move to become back up to Simon Mignolet at Club Brugge and would prefer to leave Belgium. The 31-year-old joined the Canaries from Roasso Kumamoto in the summer of 2019, having spent time on loan at Matsumoto Yamaga and Vegalta Sendai. He has made 113 appearances for the side and has been ever reliable between the sticks.
