Eden Hazard is upbeat and in good spirits despite his positive COVID-19 test, Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has confirmed.

Both the Belgian and team-mate Casemiro received the news following tests they underwent at Valdebebas on Friday.

Nobody else in the squad or first team group has tested positive, much to the relief of the Frenchman.

“They’re feeling good, even if they’re not happy about what has happened,” Zidane told reporters ahead of Sunday’s trip to Valencia.

“Emotionally and physically, they’re good. I’ve sent them a message already and will speak to them again later.

“Eden is strong and he knows that this is a tough moment. But mentally, he is coping and doing well.”

Given that it comes on the back of Eder Militão’s positive diagnosis too, it led to questions about Los Blancos’ game preparations.

“These things can happen and it could be a lot worse, so we have to accept it and keep working as a team,” Zidane added.

“It is a strong group but of course, it is disconcerting to have to train like this one day before a game.

“When things get difficult though, this group of players come through it. They always have.”
