Zinedine Zidane wants Lyon defender Ferland Mendy to replace Marcelo as Real Madrid’s left-back this summer.
Los Blancos are enduring their worst campaign in over a decade and look set to spend big during the off-season with a number of big-name recruits across a host of different positions.
Paul Pogba, Eden Hazard and Kylian Mbappé have all been linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu, but now Marca claim that Zidane is looking to bolster their defence as well.
They report that the capital club have sent their scouts to watch Mendy on a number of occasions this season and will make a move over the summer.
It’s claimed that his asking price is set at €40m, although that seems comparatively low considering the season Mendy has had at OL.
Barcelona and Manchester City have also been linked with his signature, so it would come as no surprise for wily Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas start a biding war for the youngster.
