Zinedine Zidane spoke in the press room at the Ramón de Carranza stadium and analysed his team’s win against Cádiz on matchday 31 of LaLiga: "We’re still alive in both competitions and we keep going. We’ve picked up three very important points to keep us in the race, but there’s still a long way to go".

"It was really important to start well. When you go in 3-0 up at half-time you can manage the team differently and that’s what we did. It was a good win, a convincing one. We played seriously and I’m pleased for all the players. It’s another three points and tomorrow we can rest because we play on Saturday".

Three centre-backs "We played with three at the back and two more attacking wing-backs in Marcelo and Odriozola. It worked really well for us. Everyone can have their own view of the formation, but what’s important for us is how we attack and defend. We defended well today. We haven’t conceded a goal for three games and that’s pleasing for me". "All these players deserve the credit. We've had absentees with COVID, injuries and other issues but every player is focused and we adapt the system to suit the game. We started off with three centre-backs and then we moved to a 4-3-3 with Carvajal and Miguel, making his debut. We’re going to need every single player from here until the end of the season”.

Praise for Benzema "I’m delighted with how he’s performing. We know how important he is to our game and not just because of his goals. He makes the guys around him play, we enjoy watching him and I hope Real Madrid can continue enjoying him for a long time to come”.

Modrić "He felt something in his back but I don’t think it’s anything serious. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow and I hope he can be back with us straight away“.
