Manchester United youngster Zidane Iqbal has committed his future to the club after signing a new long-term contract, keeping him at Old Trafford until 2025, with the option to extend that for an additional year.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise to stardom over the last 12 months, having made his senior debut for the club against Young Boys in the Champions League.

Furthermore, Iqbal become a senior international earlier this year when he made his debut for Iraq against Iran in January. He has two caps in total.

Now, in a statement on Manchester United’s official website, it has been confirmed that fresh terms have been agreed with the exciting midfielder.

SN’s verdict… With several senior midfield figures leaving the club this summer, new manager Erik ten Hag has been left light in that area. That could offer some youngsters the perfect opportunity to impress during pre-season.

Players who took part in international fixtures are not due back until just before United leave for Thailand on July 8.

Iqbal was part of the 28-man squad taking part in Ten Hag’s first two training sessions this week and he will be desperate to be named in the travelling tour squad.
