Chelsea have reportedly settled on a two-man shortlist with the club looking at replacing Maurizio Sarri as manager.
The Italian’s future at Stamford Bridge is thought to be hanging by a thread with a story in the Guardian on Tuesday indicating that a defeat to Manchester City in the EFL Cup final on Sunday could be enough to see him get the sack.
As such, the club have already held discussions as to who should come in and take over from the former Napoli man.
Sky Sports believe that assistant Gianfranco Zola will be given the job on a temporary basis, with the Blues then seeking to fill the position permanently in the summer.
Two names have been put forward by the hierarchy – Zinedine Zidane and Frank Lampard.
Zidane has been taking a sabbatical after leaving Real Madrid last summer following a third-straight Champions League title.
The Frenchman had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and is thought to be keen on working in the Premier League.
Lampard meanwhile is in his debut season as a manager, with his Derby team currently seventh in the Championship.
