Zamalek head coach Yannick Ferrera's confirmed that Tunisian striker Seifeddine Jaziri's no longer part of his plans for the Egyptian Premier League campaign.

Jaziri was absent from Zamalek’s 1 - 0 victory over Pharco in the 4th round, with Angolan forward Chico Banza scoring the decisive goal.

The Tunisian hasn't featured since Matchday 2 with Ferrera citing "technical reasons" before making his decision clear.

Training ground dispute

According to former Zamalek player & TV presenter Khaled El Ghandour tensions escalated in the team’s latest training session.

Ferrera reportedly asked Jaziri to try playing on the wing but the striker refused insisting he's only central forward.

The argument led to raised voices and Ferrera subsequently dropped him from the squad against Pharco.

After the match, Ferrera said:

"Seifeddine Jaziri's completely out of my plans. In time everyone'll know the reason"

The Belgian coach also reflected on the game itself:

  • Zamalek struggled to convert chances in the 1st half despite dominating possession.
  • The early 2nd half goal eased pressure and allowed his side to control proceedings.
  • He criticized time wasting tactics in Egyptian football urging referees to protect the game’s flow.

Looking ahead

Zamalek now top the league table with 10 point. Their next fixture's against Wadi Degla on Sunday in Round 5 of the EPL.
