Youssef El Kachati – Austria Vienna or Celtic to win signing race | OneFootball

With transfer rumours in full swing, it appears last week’s links for former Telstar forward Youssef El Kachati has a little more traction today…

Following on from German outlet Kicker claiming Celtic were in the mix for the out of contract Moroccan attacker, there is an update from Germany confirming El Kachati has rejected a contract offer from Bundesliga II side Hannover 96 and his wish to be playing European football has left Austria Vienna and Celtic as possible destinations.

El Kachati is 25 years old and has played predominately at a lower league level up to this point in his career, and whilst that may be enough for some in our support to roll their eyes, have a look at his YouTube clips and make your mind up for yourselves.

This may be a transfer story that’s worth keeping an eye on.

Celtic have previously scouted quite successfully in the Dutch market for strikers with Giorgis Giakoumakis a good addition to Ange Postecoglou’s squad, and given if Celtic are looking for attackers it may be as a support act for Daizen Maeda rather than a first choice pick, this lad’s goalscoring record is impressive. His versatility may also benefit Celtic given he seems comfortable on both left and right wings.

Across his career he has scored 43 goals in 81 games as a centre forward but has also scored 12 in 42 games as right sided attacker and a further 12 in 30 games when deployed on the left side of a front three.

It does appear, much like GG, Youssef is something of a late bloomer but in style of play he’s very reminiscent of former Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette.

Stylistically El Kachati looks a good fit for a Brendan Rodgers side, particularly with his powerful running style. Meanwhile his ability to progress the ball in a direct manner, whilst protecting the ball well, may also suit a counter attacking approach for European competition.

It may not be the sort of signing that would encourage a summer reception at Celtic Park, but El Kachati is certainly worth consideration and if nothing else an indication Celtic’s scouting is in full swing.
