Aston Villa will clash heads with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this Saturday evening as they try to grind out a positive result on the road. The Villans managed to earn a convincing 3-0 victory over Bournemouth prior to the international break, so they will be full of confidence going into this league clash in the English capital.

Unai Emery will opt for a 4-4-2 formation once again and is expected to make one change to his first XI for this game. Matty Cash is unlikely to recover in time for this game, so Ashley Young will get an opportunity to impress from the start of this contest at Stamford Bridge.

Defence

Emiliano Martinez will function in goal for the Villans after earning a clean sheet in his last league appearance. Ezri Konsa and Tyronne Mings will operate as the centre-backs for Unai Emery’s side as they try to keep the Chelsea attackers frustrated during the 90 minutes.

As mentioned earlier, Ashley Young will function as the right back while Alex Moreno hopes to catch the eye as the left-back. Both of them would have to work hard at both ends of the field if the Villans are to come out on top out on the flanks.

Calum Chambers will be available for selection on the bench as he provides cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield

Douglas Luiz and John McGinn will anchor the midfield for the West Midlands club as they try to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park.

Leon Bailey could get the nod to catch the eye on the right flank while Jacob Ramsey will fill in on the other side as the left-winger. Both of them have to come back and defend when needed if Emery wants to conjure up a famous win away at Stamford Bridge this Saturday.

Attack

Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Buendia will lead the line for Aston Villa in the final third. Both of them have to find a way to cause a few problems for the Chelsea centre-backs during the game.

Bertrand Traore will be named on the bench as he waits for his chance to impress as a second-half substitute if needed.
