One of the hottest prospects right now within the Sheffield United academy ranks is U21’s striker Louie Marsh.

Last season for the development team, Marsh netted 22 goals in the regular season, securing the Golden Boot and aiding the Blades in clinching another PDL North title. His scoring prowess continued as he found the net once more in the team’s national semi-final victory over Bristol City.

His progression earned him a new three-year deal at Sheffield United which he signed last summer. Marsh was subsequently sent on loan to further his development away from the club.

Marsh was sent out on loan earlier this season to League Two side Doncaster Rovers. After adding a goal to his name and making a total of nine games in all competitions, the 20-year-old’s loan spell was cut short due injury.

He ended up suffering another setback, but he has recently returned to action for the U21’s when he got 45 minutes under his belt in a 3-1 victory against Peterborough United.

Marsh bagged a brace before he was substituted off at halftime, increasing his tally for the development team to eight goals this season having only featured three times at that time.

Louie Marsh on trying to break into the Sheffield United team

Speaking in a recent interview on SUTV, Marsh insisted that his next focus is trying to get into Sheffield United’s plans for the end of the season, and beyond.

“I think what’s next for me is getting up with the first-team as much as I can, and showcasing what I’ve got really. Obviously with the new gaffer coming in there’s a lot of changes, but I think with my ability I’m capable of doing that.”
