Club Brugge have announced that Shion Homma has left the club and returned to Japan. the 23-year-old joined the side back in 2022 from Albirex Niigata to play for the second team. He has gone on to make a handful of appearances for the first team, scoring a goal that denied Union St Gilloise the title during his first season in Belgium. However, having not been able to really nail down a place in the first team squad, the player has returned to the J League to join Urawa Reds.

During his few appearances it was clear that Homma was a talented player, but Club Brugge have a lot of strong players in his position making the path to the first team very difficult. During his time with Albirex Niigata, the winger played 131 games, scoring 22 goals and grabbing 22 assists. Homma was a regular starter for Club NXT, the Brugge sides second team. He played 47 times in the Belgian second tier, scoring six goals and grabbing 10 assists.
