Young Boys’ set to sign Lille’s wantaway Alan Virginius

Particularly discrete on the transfer market so far, Lille is close to registering another departure as Alan Virginius (21) is set to join Switzerland’s Young Boys Berne on a loan. A buy option will be included, according to Foot Mercato.

Lille’s exodus is set to continue, while signings are still to be made. After Ivan Cavaleiro (30), Adam Jakubech (27), Adam Ounas (27), Yusuf Yazici (27) following their contract expiry and the selling of Leny Yoro (18) to Manchester United, Lille are set to offload Virginius, who has failed to make an impression with Les Dogues. Arriving from Sochaux in 2022, the French U20 international was loaned out to Clermont for the second half of last season, but failed to make a proper impact on the Auvergne side, who got relegated from Ligue 1. However, the striker made a big impression on the international stage recently, with solid performances at the famous Tournoi Maurice Revello. Enough to gather interest from Switzerland and Germany, but Young Boys are set to beat competition to sign the 21-year-old centre forward.

According to Foot Mercato, Lille and Young Boys are on the verge of finding a total agreement over the loan deal with an option to buy for Virginius. Les Dogues invested €4M two years ago for the French prospect, and it is unknown if the buy option could reach the investment made back then.
