Young Boys chief exec Wanja Greuel says victory over Manchester United is proof why the Super League idea is wrong.

The Swiss came from a goal down at home to win their opening Champions League group game 2-1.

"Manchester played with their best team, they played with Ronaldo," said Greuel to the Daily Mail. "It was a big game for them as well. One thing is we won the game and the other thing is we really deserved to win the game.

"Of course, the red card played very much into out hands but it was a great game by our team. It is simply amazing. We are such a small club compared to the giants from Manchester and shows what team spirit and culture can actually achieve."

He added: "It shows that we should try to keep the gap [in wealth and power of clubs] and not let it grow it any more so that games like this are possible in the future."
