QPR 3 Brentford 0

The young Bees needed just a point to secure their place in the round of 16 of the PDL Cup but instead had to rely on other results in their group to go their way following a 3-0 defeat to QPR.

Brentford had a good chance to get themselves ahead in the first half when Giscombe found himself through on goal, but his effort was saved well.

The home side grew into the game and managed to get themselves a shock lead just before the break.

Brentford started the second half quite well but were stunned again as QPR doubled their lead on the hour mark.

As the Bees flooded players forward in an attempt to salvage something from the game, QPR struck again with the side denting Brentford’s chances of progression.

The results from the three games Brentford played meant Lydia Bedford’s side were still top of the group with a goal difference of +1.

Gillingham were sat on three points and a goal difference of +5 heading into their final game against Wimbledon and the latter also on three points but with a goal difference of -1.

Brentford's most likely source of success would come from a narrow Wimbledon victory.
