Girona head coach Míchel has this week delivered a public message the way of Barcelona counterpart Xavi.
As much, of course, comes fresh off the latest edition of the Catalan derby between the two sides this past weekend.
In a crunch clash amid the ongoing battle for 2nd in the La Liga table, it was Girona who ultimately emerged triumphant, by four goals to two.
Barca boss Xavi, in turn, has since been singled out for heavy criticism on the part of fans and the media alike once more.
Speaking in an interview with El Larguero, as cited by Diario Sport, this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the job being done by his fellow tactician was put to the aforementioned Míchel.
And, in his response, Girona’s highly-regarded boss first moved to defend Xavi:
“it is a recognizable Barça, wanting to go after the rival, pressing, playing football, wanting to attack, and having possession…”
From here, however, Míchel chose to send something of a warning the way of his compatriot.
This comes amid the suggestion that, so long as Xavi’s Barcelona remind viewers of the famed Blaugrana outfit overseen by Pep Guardiola, he will ‘always lose’:
“I don’t know if I told Xavi in the first leg. I told him that you will always lose if they remind you of Pep’s Barça. Because that team is unrepeatable. And he was also part of that team as a player.”
