VI are reporting that Yoann Cathline is set to return to the Eredivisie for the upcoming season. The winger will join FC Utrecht on loan, with the club having agreed a purchase option with Lorient for the 21-year-old winger. Cathline still has a contract with Lorient until 2027 and is valued at around €2m by Transfermarkt. The former French U20 international joined Lorient from Guingamp back in the summer transfer window of 2022 for around €2.7m.
The winger made 26 appearances for Lorient in Ligue 1 and cup competitions, scoring three goals and grabbing one assist. Last season he was loaned out to Almere City, where he impressed with six goals and four assists in 31 games. It is of little surprise that another Eredivisie side would come calling if he was available. Utrecht have had a busy transfer window and are bolstering their attacking options as they look to have a successful campaign. They missed out on European football during the play-offs to Go-Ahead Eagles last year.
