So have we turned the corner? Does yesterday’s result at Fir Park represent a revolution? Have the feckless performances against Livingston and Dundee United gone for ever? Are we now starting an unbeaten run?

Well, I would like to think so, but it is too early to say for certain. There remains a long, long way to go. What is certain however is that Celtic have now given themselves a chance once again. Four points behind in the middle of October is not an impossible position, and it certainly sounds better than six points behind! No League title was ever won in October, but we are certainly back in the race. We must not neglect this opportunity. There must be no more sloppiness in defence,(where we were strong yesterday) and no more missing chances up front.

But yesterday was a good day. The goals were first rate, and David Turnbull’s strike illustrates the value of shooting from a distance whenever the opportunity presents itself rather the “walking the ball into the net” approach. It was a remarkable goal, and all we can say is “let’s have more of it”. And the first goal merely showed what a great buy Jota was. Didn’t you just love his twirl after he scored?

But this was a recognisable team performance from Celtic. The defence was tight. For a moment, I almost allowed myself to be brain washed by the BBC commentary team that Motherwell were denied a penalty by the referee, but the point was that the referee said “No”, and it might not have mattered anyway.

The other results helped as well, in particular THAT one. I didn’t realise just how popular Hearts were among Celtic fans! And both Dundee teams winning on the same day – that doesn’t happen all that often, while poor old Scott Brown and Aberdeen still not getting it together! All these things prove that all sorts of things can happen in that Premier League. it is now up to Ange and the players to make sure that they don’t happen to Celtic. It is quite simple. Win all the games. Impossible? No, the Invincibles of 2016/17 almost did it, as did the great sides of Stein and Maley.

Two other things before we leave yesterday. All the best to Willie Collum with whatever befell him, and how long are we going to see the madness of a ticket shortage for games which have empty seats?

So on to Tuesday and this strange game against Ferencvaros with the bizarre kick off time of 3.30 on a Tuesday. Remember your Covid vaccination certificates for this game which will be lucky if it sees a half filled Celtic Park. It is a game we must win if we are to have any chance of reaching the European Conference Cup. Let us use our new-found form and confidence and see if we can get a much needed win in Europe!
