Fabrice Hawkins is reporting that Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer (33) has agreed personal terms for a move to Nice, whilst discussions between the two clubs over the transfer continue.
Having lost Walter Benítez (29) on a free transfer to PSV, Nice are in the market for a new number 1. That is despite the signing of Marcin Bulka (22) from PSG on a permanent deal for €2m.
According to Hawkins, new Nice manager Lucien Favre “absolutely wants” to bring his compatriot to the Allianz Riviera. Whilst there is s “verbal agreement” between the player and the club, there is not yet an agreement between the clubs over a transfer, although “discussions are ongoing.”
Sommer has only one-year left on his current deal at the Bundesliga side. The Swiss international has 74 caps for the national side, whilst last season he made 33 Bundesliga appearances as his side finished 10th.
