Colombia and León left-back Yairo Moreno will no longer be able to continue at Copa América due to injury.
Moreno started against Ecuador in their 1-0 victory on Sunday but had to be replaced by William Tesillo just before half-time.
On Tuesday, the Colombian Football Federation released the following message: “The management of the Colombian national team announces that the player Yairo Moreno will no longer play in the 2021 Conmebol Copa América due to a grade 1B muscle injury, which he suffered during the match against Ecuador.”
In a separate message, the CFF also revealed that Frank Fabra has been called up as an emergency replacement.
“Frank Fabra from Boca Juniors will be called up for this competition. The left-back replaces Juan Ferney Otero, who was unable to travel with the team to Brazil because his RT – PCR test for Covid was positive, ”the statement said.
Fabra is expected to arrive in Brazil on Wednesday and be available for selection ahead of Colombia’s match against Venezuela on Thursday.
